University of Pennsylvania Journal of International Law

University of Pennsylvania Journal of International Law International Law Our history allows us the privilege of publishing the scholarship of premier academics, government officials, and practitioners in the field.

First printed in 1978 as the University of Pennsylvania Journal of Comparative Corporate Law and Securities Regulation, the Journal of International Law ("JIL") is the oldest topically focused Journal at Penn Law and widely recognized as one of the top international law Journals in the world. JIL has collaborated with the Institute for Law and Economics, the American Society of International Law, a

nd the U.S. Court of International Trade. Furthermore, we are honored to maintain an extensive alumni network spanning our 32 years of existence. The Journal, formerly the Journal of International Economic Law, has broadened its focus to explore all issues at the forefront of general international law, but retains its strength as a leading journal of international business and economic law. In addition, our expanded focus allowed the members of the former Journal of International Law and Policy, an unofficial journal at Penn Law, to join the staff of the Journal of International Law in 2007. JIL now publishes scholarship on diverse issues ranging from international economic law to international human rights and environmental regulation. The Journal continues to work with preeminent authors on articles regarding private international transactions, international governmental regulation, and empirical research on the effects of international law on world economies. One issue per year is devoted to scholarship arising from the annual JIL Symposium. The University of Pennsylvania Journal of International Law commenced publication with Volume 29, Number 1 (2007). This Journal replaced the former University of Pennsylvania Journal of International Economic Law, which ceased publication with Volume 28, Number 2 (2007). The Journal of International Economic Law replaced The University of Pennsylvania Journal of International Business Law, which ceased publication with Volume 16, Number 4 (1995). This Journal replaced the Journal of Comparative Business and Capital Market Law, which ceased publication with Volume 8, Number 4 (December 1986).
