Drexel researchers found that expressive humanoid robots can build stronger connections with people, but their mistakes can also damage trust more deeply.

The study, led by Hasan Ayaz, PhD, in Drexel’s Nick Howley College of Engineering and Computing, found that participants reacted to errors from an engaging robot more like social violations than technical glitches. The findings could help guide the design of more trustworthy robots for everyday use.
