Drexel University Construction Management

Drexel University Construction Management The Construction Management Program offers a BS and an MS degree in Construction Management as well as undergraduate and graduate certificate programs.

The Construction Management program at Drexel University has been growing and developing with the industry since its inception in 1975. While an understanding of the technical aspects of construction is extremely important, it is also essential that construction professionals become proficient in management and leadership skills. These critical competencies can be developed through formal construc

tion education at the university level. Drexel University offers both Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Construction Management. Construction management practitioners work in various construction organizations such as CM firms, general contractors, specialty contractors, design-builders, consulting engineers, architects, and real estate developers. Construction management practitioners are also employed in various capacities representing project owners, suppliers, regulators, lenders, and other stakeholders involved with construction. Positions include project managers, coordinators, estimators, schedulers, safety specialists, business development managers, and many others. Some rise to senior-level executive positions, while others own and operate their own firms.

Yesterday, Xi Elsie Wang, Kathleen M Short and Charlie Cook were so proud to witness two of the CMGT family at their commissioning ceremony. Guest Speaker COL Stephen T. Messenger told the cadets, "Right now you outrank zero percent of those in the Army, in 5 minutes, you will outrank 82% of them".

Seniors, Nathan Summers and Noah Alguard, took the oath and were commissioned as Lieutenants for the Army. We are unbelievably proud of both of you as you enter into the next chapter of your lives and your careers. Congratulations to Lieutenant Nathan Summers and Lieutenant Noah Alguard!!

In this week's Field Management Operations class, Drexel University Construction Management students, Kendra Dempsey and Cam Jaeger, led the class discussion on and completed an example of pull planning. Students had a great time figuring out the steps needed to complete their assigned trades for the project and then how to collaboratively arrange the necessary components to complete the fit out of the restroom for the project.

On March 4th, the Drexel University Construction Management program hosted our annual Dragon Exemplar Award Dinner. Recipients of this award are nominated by the industry. This year we honored Anthony Naccarato of O'Donnell and Naccarato www.o-n.com for his leadership and service to the construction industry. We also present our Junior Dragon Exemplar Award to a program senior we feel will make a huge impact on the industry as their career progresses. We were proud to present this year's award to Pritom Das.

The event was fabulous! We had a room packed with industry professionals there to honor Anthony and see him receive his award. This was one of our largest events in past years. We had many companies sponsor and attend the event with proceeds helping to fund student activities in the program. Additionally, we had over 30 students and several recent alumni attend the event to network with the sponsors. We are so grateful to everyone who helped make this event a success. We are especially thankful for Amy Hennessey of the Employing Bricklayers Association www.employingbricklayers.org , who is the backbone of the planning for this event. Without her we would not have had such a successful event. Thank you to everyone for your support of our program and our students.

*I would like to also acknowledge our photographer for the event, Yagut Mammadhuseynova, a wonderful student of our program. Thank you, Yagut!!
