Inspired to improve his local communities, Kadafi El-Kardah, ’15, utilized the educational foundation he built at La Salle University to grow a career in environmentalism, most recently with the Germantown-based Drain Buddies initiative.

La Salle University grad Bishop Joseph L. Coffey, ‘82, was recently honored with The Saint John Neumann Award, which recognizes individuals whose unwavering commitment to service has profoundly strengthened their community.

Bishop Coffey is a retired Navy chaplain with 28 years of service, including a deployment to Afghanistan. Now, he serves as Episcopal Vicar for Veterans Affairs for the Archdiocese for the Military Services of the United States. His “ministry of presence” reaches all 150 VA Medical Centers across the nation, where he provides pastoral care and sacramental comfort to veterans and their families, reminding them of how honorable it is to serve.

Bishop Coffey’s compassionate leadership and tireless advocacy are an inspiration to the Catholic Charities’ Veterans program staff, who work tirelessly to uplift the dignity of those who have served our country

John Taylor, Ph.D., M.Ed., MACC, LPC, has always been open to new experiences in his life, leading to a varied career path. Today, he is an assistant professor of public health at La Salle University.

💬 “Helping students recognize some of those moving parts has been very interesting for class and class discussions,” Taylor said. “Because they’re really about bringing in real-world experiences coupled, of course, with the information I share around academics, but really having them connect with the real world to have them do the work around public health.” 💬

Lindsey Massimiani Pepe, ’07, Danielle Hamra Ho**er, ’07, and Dennis Brown, ’96, all graduated from La Salle University. Now the three Explorers are at the helm of S29 Consulting, a growth marketing agency.

As the founder, co-founder, and partner of S29 Consulting, all three credit the lessons learned in the Communication Program, the relationships they cultivated, and their first professional experiences as student workers at La Salle University with being the start of a successful journey.

La Salle University is proud to introduce a new Bachelor of Arts program in Sports Communication within the School of Arts and Sciences, launching fall 2027!

Explorers who join the program will master the art of ethical storytelling across written, oral, digital, and video platforms while tackling the real-world legal, cultural, and societal issues shaping the modern sports world. Through capstone projects, broadcast productions, and professional internships, Explorers will graduate ready to solve complex industry challenges and make their mark in sports media.

The new rankings selected only the top 500 institutions in the nation, positioning the University in the top-tier of options for postsecondary education.

Director of the La Salle University Speech-Language-Hearing Community Clinics Kris Ralph, M.S. CCC-SLP, was chosen by the Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders to participate in their 2026–2027 Simulation IPE Community of Practice cohort!

Kris will spend a year in the program that brings together faculty and staff from different institutions to collaboratively develop and implement simulation-based interprofessional education experiences.
