Penn Special Olympics

Penn Special Olympics We are a newly formed club at the University of Pennsylvania that strives to spread a message of unity and acceptance for all ability levels

Special Olympics was founded in 1968 by Eunice Kennedy Shriver to provide people with intellectual disabilities an opportunity to train and compete in a variety of athletic events, develop mental and physical fitness, and be active and social participants within their community. We are a newly formed student organization at the University of Pennsylvania and a small part of Special Olympics Pennsy

lvania and the larger national organization. We strive to spread a message of unity and acceptance for all ability levels. We hope to provide competition for individuals with intellectual disabilities to foster courage, enjoyment, and friendship among athletes, unified partners, and volunteers. We also hope to inspire athletes to be the best they can be and lead healthy, dynamic lives.
