🏓 1st Annual Mentor-Mentee Pickleball Tournament (9/10/26) 🏓

Our inaugural Mentor-Mentee Pickleball Tournament brought together faculty from University Health, Saint Luke’s, Kansas City Orthopedic Institute, and Children’s Mercy Hospital alongside our residents for an evening of friendly competition, mentorship, and connection.

What started as a fun opportunity to bond quickly became a highly competitive tournament! Congratulations to Dr. Maeda (Faculty) and Dr. Cu***ng (PGY-4) for taking home the championship title after a hard-fought match against Dr. Winston and Dr. Ciecko (PGY-3)! 🏆

At UMKC Orthopaedic Surgery, we believe residency is about more than education and clinical training. We strive to foster a culture that values wellness, friendship, mentorship, teamwork, and lifelong connections.

Here’s to making memories and strengthening our UMKC Ortho family!

UMKC Orthopedic Surgery residents and faculty headed to Loose Park for a morning of wellness, recreation, and team building.

From football, soccer, frisbee, spikeball, and baseball to walks, conversations, and plenty of laughter, it was a great opportunity to reconnect outside of the clinical environment. The morning was topped off with team Juicy Mimosa mocktail shots—a fun way to celebrate our team and the work we do together. 🍹

We are grateful for the continued support of our Program Director and Associate Program Director in making wellness and team connection a priority.
