Though it’s hard to believe, our 2022 Main Event has passed, and gratitude is in order.

We thank our 9 speakers for the ideas they shared and the conversations that will follow long after.

We thank the GCU Arena staff for dotting all the i’s and crossing all the t’s.

As an independently-organized TED event planned, organized, and executed entirely by students, defined leadership roles are integral to TEDxGrandCanyonUniversity.

In year 6, Havilah Houston serves as President and licensee holder.

The Vice President of Operations & Development is Luis Pena Espinoza overseeing the Finance, Operations, and Speaker Acquisition components.

The Vice President of Content Creation is Rocco Berbetti — overseeing the Design, Marketing, and Production components.

All 3 regularly collaborate, spark ideas, and provide direction while catalyzing the team as a whole.

It utilizes numerous platforms to promote the team’s efforts such as – but not limited to – social media, on-campus tabling, email campaigns, billboards, networking, etc. Marketing team members display a strong creative sense and artistic vision. They are perceptive and empathetic with the way consumers think and feel, allowing them to generate meaningful strategies for building a core audience.

Every parent wants their kid to be somebody.

Typically, the motivation behind this desire comes from a place of love and care.

However, as human beings, we often conflate our personal identity with literal and figurative key performance indicators. We’re exposed to this as early as birth – though subtly, and we succumb to its power with time.

Attempting to break this cycle in his life and research, JA Plosker explained that becoming a nobody – regardless of how counterintuitive it sounds – is a surprisingly liberating state of mind.
