Careers in the skilled trades can’t be learned in an auditorium-sized classroom, with a distant professor droning on about theories. Augmented Reality Sparking Interest in Welding

Last month, the welding-focused site The Fabricator featured a new tactic for driving interest in the trades and empowering curiosity in the next generation. A weeklong tech camp in Wisconsin is using augmented reality welding simulators to give campers a feel of what it’s like in the industry. Their goal is to help eighth and ninth graders get the chance to know the satisfaction of working and creating with their hands.

What Can You Learn in an HVAC Training Program?

In our HVAC 307, Introduction to Cooling course, we provide our students with an overview of the basic refrigeration cycle and the major components, accessories, and control devices of a cooling system. We teach them how to use temperature and pressure measuring instruments to make readings at key points in the refrigeration cycle while understanding the temperature and pressure relationships at key points in the refrigeration cycle. Our students also learn how to identify compressors, condensers, evaporators, metering devices, controls, and accessories, plus how to use a sight glass and moisture/liquid indicator to determine the operating conditions of an air conditioning system.

What Can You Learn in an HVAC/R Training Program?

In our HVAC/R Course 105, Refrigerant Transition & Recovery Certification, we prepare our students to pass the Certification Exam, Section 608, for the E.P.A (Environmental Protection Agency). This is a required license that certifies technicians to perform service and maintenance procedures for systems of air conditioning and refrigeration. We help students obtain this license with the necessary information through training materials and hands-on labs in recovery, pressurization, and handling of the refrigerants.
