Player to Watch: QB Gavin Wimsatt

Gavin Wimsatt is returning as the starting QB for Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Last season, Wimsatt was sharing the QB responsibilities with Evan Simon and Noah Vedral as he progressed as a player. Also, he battled through injuries in the Temple game and came up victorious. Gavin Wimsatt has a chance to be one of the best QBs for Rutgers with his dual threat capabilities and new OC at the helm.

Gavin Wimsatt is a former 4 star recruit and highest QB recruit since Tom Savage. He brings a cool demeanor which is essential to the QB position. With experience from last season, Gavin Wimsatt will bring new expectations and positive outlook as the leader of Rutgers Football.

Started all 12 games at linebacker ... totaled 71 tackles with six for loss and three sacks

Tyreem Powell is a tone setter LB who attacks his opponents with full force. Did you remember that play when he stopped Michigan Blake Corum midair. He has been improving each season and I have no doubt that he will be an impact player on defense. 6’5 and 240 frame with speed makes him a tough defender for offense to handle.

Don’t come his way, or pay the price with Tyreem “Optimus” Powell Jr.

Player Watch: RB Samuel Brown V

Played in seven games with one start at running back ... recorded 86 carries ... placed second on the team with 374 rushing yards, eighth-most among true freshmen nationally following week eight ... led the offense with three rushing touchdowns ... added four receptions for 17 yards ... earned first career start and rushed for 101 yards on 28 carries with go-ahead touchdown in the win over Indiana

Samuel Brown V is a classic stud, north and south power back. He won’t wait until you move, he will run you over. Sam Brown is 6’1 220lbs of steel locomotive coming down your path. You can count on him to get the tough yards and extend drives with his horsepower strength. Solid player in the backfield for blocking and catching swing/check down passes. I expect

Sam Brown to bounce back from his injury which impeded his spectacular freshmen season. With experience, Sam “Downtown” Brown V is ready to aboard.

Player Watch: Victor Konopka

2022 Academic All-Big Ten
2021 Academic All-Big Ten

Victor Konopka is a 6’7 TE that has big play potential. Hopefully with a NEW offensive coordinator and scheme, Konopka can be used to his full potential. Who can guard a man that who is that tall in an open field? Give the man the damn ball! 🏈

With his massive size, he will be a significant factor in the run game with his blocking. Also, a great 3rd down or red zone threat due to his skyscraper height.

This TE is like a Mack Truck that is ready to take the open road. Let’s hope RU uses him to the maximum.
