ABOUT SUYEN:

A 2014 MPH graduate of Montclair State University, with a concentration in Community Health Education, Suyen worked as a Public Health Supervisor for the NJ Department of Health, within the NJ Immunization Information System (NJIIS) unit. In addition to this role, Suyen has also served in marketer and practice manager capacities in home
care, pharmaceutical, and at a recognized federally qualified health center (FQHC).
Suyen’s passions have always been healthcare marketing, management, program planning, implementation and evaluation.

After graduation, Suyen obtained her Health Educator Certification (CHES) from the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing (NCHEC). She also recently renewed her health educator specialist certification and is now an MCHES.

On a personal level, Suyen enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, hiking, line dancing and learning new concepts. Most recently, she completed a Certification from
Cornell University in Digital Marketing.

About Selen'a:

Selen'a Brown is expected to graduate with an MPH in 2028. Currently, she works as an outstanding Graduate Assistant in the Department of Public Health and is also a Pharmacy Technician.

In her spare time, she loves makeup and cooking, especially when it comes to preparing brown chicken stew.

Selen'a is inspired by her community and hopes her education will give her the tools to eventually pursue a PhD, teach health literacy, become a health educator, and advocate for those in need.

Attention all current Montclair undergraduate students!!!

If you're currently in a Public Health, Psychology, or Medical Humanities Bachelor's program, consider attending our information session on our combined degree MPH program on November 2, 2026. The information session will be from 12pm-1pm in the ADP Center in University Hall.

Please keep in mind that to be eligible to apply, you must be in one of these three programs, graduate by May 2028, and have a minimum GPA of a 3.4. If you intend to graduate in December 2028, still come to the information session anyways! You may be eligible for the program.

On October 13, HLTH 397 students attended the Student Symposium on Sustainability Science at the College of Communication and Media. They explored the Poster Conference and visited August MPH grad Laurel Cousineau’s poster, “Sustainable Housing Outcomes Under New Jersey’s Lead-Safe Law,” which synthesized work from her internship and culminating project.
