We are SO EXCITED for our upcoming Fall Fest!!! 🧡

Gather your friends and family for an afternoon of fall-themed fun! Our OT students are teaming up with our National Honor Society, PTE, to bring different games and activities for all ages. Best part? It’s FREE 🍁

When? November 15th from 1-4PM
Where? Bakery Square Greenery (Rain location: The Portal)
Who? All community members of all ages are welcome to join

This is who they were. Just look at who they’re becoming. 🥹🤎

Before the lectures, practicals, fieldwork, and countless hours of studying, they were little kids who had no idea where life would take them.

Today, those same little faces are preparing to become occupational therapists, each bringing their own experiences, passions, and perspectives into a profession centered around helping others live meaningful lives. 🫶🏼

Occupational therapy is about more than regaining skills. It’s about advocating for others, celebrating the smallest victories, promoting independence, and helping people participate in the moments that matter most.

So many different stories. So many future OTs. One shared purpose. 🤍

💜 What if better care starts with better conversations? 💭

Last week, some of our Chatham OT students attended a talk on Motivational Interviewing and the Motivational Interviewing Approach to Care right here on campus!

As future OTs, we’re learning that client-centered care isn’t just about what we do, but how we listen, connect, and empower others!🫶🏼

Opportunities like these remind us that professional growth goes beyond the classroom. There’s always more to learn, new perspectives to consider, and ways to become better advocates for the people we serve!

Because sometimes, the most meaningful thing we can do is simply listen!💜

🍂 Falling Into Meaningful Occupations🦉🤎🍎🍏🎃

Fall is here, and we’re sharing 6 fun ways to make the most of the season around Chatham Eastside and beyond! 🤎

Between classes, assignments, studying, fieldwork, and everything else life throws at us, it’s easy to forget to make time for the things we actually enjoy! Whether it’s grabbing a seasonal coffee, exploring local fall festivities, taking a walk to enjoy the changing leaves, visiting a pumpkin patch with your cohort, or staying in to bake Pillsbury Halloween cookies and watch your favorite fall movie, there’s something for everyone! ☕🍁🍪

As future occupational therapists, we spend so much time learning about the importance of meaningful occupations, but sometimes we need that reminder ourselves! Occupations aren’t just the things we need to do. They’re also the things we want to do, the routines that keep us grounded, and the little moments that bring us joy, connection, and balance!

So here’s your reminder that taking a break is okay, having fun is important, and making time for yourself matters too! You don’t have to do something big or spend a ton of money to engage in something meaningful🤎

We hope these ideas inspire you to step away from the textbooks for a little and enjoy everything fall has to offer!

✨ Wi******er Thurston + Chatham ELOTD Collaboration ✨

High school students from Wi******er Thurston School partnered with Chatham University Entry-Level OTD students as part of their Altruistic Engineering course.

The Wi******er Thurston students were challenged to modify and adapt board and card games to make them more accessible for people with disabilities, while our ELOTD students stepped into the role of student consultants—sharing their occupational therapy perspective and knowledge of accessibility, adaptation, and participation.

We loved seeing both groups of students problem-solve together, share ideas, and learn from one another through this hands-on collaboration.

We’re already looking forward to more opportunities to work together! 💜
