We're immensely grateful to Drs. Leigh Patel, Heather McCambly, Z Nicolazzo, Amanda R. Tachine, briana karineh namibia rodrigúez, and Sean Hernández Adkins for their time and for sharing their perspectives and celebrating the 10th anniversary edition release of Dr. Patel's book, "Decolonizing Educational Research: From Ownership to Answerability" earlier today with the return of Food for Thought!

It is incredible to see the impact of a book on so many lives that have gone on to impact so many others. We thank Dr. Patel, our panelists, Dr. Lori Delale-O'Connor, Dr. Tonia Green, Emily Conklin, and YOU, our attendees, both at CUE Commons and online!

The 2026 Center for Urban Education Summer Educator Forum brought together an incredible network of educators and led to breakthroughs big and small. Whether you're teaching in a classroom, a volunteer curious about new strategies to engage youth or simply passionate about urban education, there was a place for you at this year's CUESEF!

Thanks to all of our attendees, incredible facilitators as well as the ECS students who joined our panel. The second and final day of CUESEF included wonderful workshops with Andrea Sachdeva, Jessica Chernay, Jerone Morris, Jamaal Gosa, and our very own Tonia Green. With appreciation to CUE Interim Director Lori Delale-O'Connor and CUE Administrator Emily Conklin for bringing this gathering to life, and to students Liliana Chavez and Baili Park (CUE student affiliates) and Sam Hagedorn for their help with logistics!

Today marked the first day of the 2026 CUE Summer Educator Forum (CUESEF) and we couldn't be more pleased with the variety of workshops and engagement! This year’s theme, “Critical Pedagogy for a Changing World — Innovation & Justice in Urban Education,” calls us to unite, learn, and lead with purpose. Together in CUEmmunity, we can spark meaningful change and champion justice for all learners.

What happens when you put all of the University of Pittsburgh's leading race-equity research centers in a room together for a Saturday work session? Something special.

This weekend, CUE Interim Director Dr. Lori Delale-O'Connor and Assistant Director Tonia Green joined colleagues from five Pitt centers for an Impossible Project session — a facilitated format built for bold, collective visioning.

This is part of a Pitt Research Research Momentum Teaming Grant that challenged us to answer a simple but profound question: What could we accomplish if Pitt's race-focused centers worked together?

It's a step toward pursuing larger, externally funded work that none of us could take on alone.

Thanks to our partners in this work: Center on Race and Social Problems (Center on Race & Social Problems), Center on Health Equity; Center on Ethnic Studies Research (Center for Ethnic Studies Research), Center for African Studies (Pitt Center for African Studies); and the Center on Civil Rights and Justice (Pitt Law Center for Civil Rights and Racial Justice).
