Explore Appalachia in conversation with communities around the world through fiction, history, and global scholarship. This series examines shared challenges including extraction, economic change, migration, environmental justice, Indigenous land rights, cultural identity, and the future of rural communities.

Our first reading is Storming Heaven by Denise Giardina, taking place September 30. Set during the West Virginia Mine Wars, the novel explores coal, labor organizing, class, community, and resistance.
