The Greater Pittsburgh Chapter is the oldest Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association, celebrating over 100 years as Penn State's presence in Pittsburgh. Our Association is the largest dues paying alumni organization attached to any college or university. Now more than 160,000 strong the Penn State Alumni Association offers outreach to alumni around the world and connection between its members and over 90,000 students in the Penn State system.

Only two more sleeps until game day! Grist House is the official PSU Alumni Chapter Pittsburgh game watch partner in Pittsburgh! Join us this Saturday, Sept 5 as PSU takes on Marshall. Game time is at 3:30. The game will be on at all Grist House locations. The main watch party will be at the Millvale location. Members of the PSU Alumni Chapter Pittsburgh chapter will be on site at Millvale to provide more information about the local chapter. There will be more activities throughout the game watch at Millvale to keep you excited to cheer on State!

It's also not too late to join the Grist House Game Day Crew. Receive additional perks during the game at Grist House. Every membership includes a $10 donation to the Greater Pittsburgh Chapter Alumni Association's Franco Harris Memorial FastStart Program Endowment. Membership sales close Friday Sept 4! With the Fall semester starting, it's a good time sign up to be a Penn State Alumni Association FastStart Mentor. The PSAA-GPC are proud supporters of the FastStart program with our Franco Harris Memorial FastStart Endowment.

FastStart is a mentorship program supported by the Penn State Alumni Association. FastStart was formed in 1996 to enrich the student experience of Penn State first-year students. Since its inception FastStart has supported matriculation, persistence, academic achievement and professional development of Penn State students.

How it works:
FastStart uses a triad mentorship model. First–year students (Mentees) are matched with a Penn State faculty/staff mentor and an alumni mentor, who can help them flourish in their new university environment and get their college career off to a “FastStart.”

Alumni & Faculty/Staff who complete the registration process will be eligible to be matched as mentors. Students who complete the registration process are matched with their two mentors. Prospective mentors and mentees are asked to complete a survey on the LionLink platform, which helps match them based on suitability.

Alumni Mentor:
Being a mentor can be a rewarding experience that allows you to make a positive impact on others while also growing personally and professionally. You can share your expertise, develop your skills, expand your professional network, and contribute to building a supportive community.

Share personal experiences, challenges and successes at Penn State.
Provide insights on college life, course selection and extracurricular activities.
Help build a professional network and offer guidance on career exploration and job opportunities.
Offer motivation, support and encouragement throughout the first year.

Hey, Penn Stater - congrats on heading to Penn State this fall for your first year! This one's for those new to the Penn State family. Please join us at our first-year sendoff. This is a free “drop-in” event, hosted by the Penn State Alumni Association - Greater Pittsburgh Chapter. All first-year students accepted to any Penn State location are welcome with their families!

Students: Come and mingle with other first-year Penn Staters, enjoy a sweet treat, make dorm crafts, and take photographs.

Parents: Come and ask questions about Penn State and meet other Penn State parents. Members of the PSU Parent Council will be present to answer questions.
