Last but definitely not least, our department spotlight series closes out with Finance! This team builds and maintains the financial relationships that keep CMR running. They work with the university, sponsors, and partner companies to raise the capital that makes everything else possible.
Beyond fundraising, Finance handles budgeting and spending allocation, making sure every dollar goes toward building the best car we can and growing the team year after year.

Finance also represents CMR in the static events at competition, including the business presentation, where their work directly earns points toward our overall score.
Although there aren’t any subteams, Finance is the backbone that keeps CMR functioning, from raising funds to managing where they go.

Continuing our department spotlight series with Marketing and Outreach! This team handles internal and external communication for CMR. Think recruitment, merch, livery, crowdfunding, team events, and media, all rolled into one.
Two subteams make up the department: Design and Media.

Design shapes CMR’s visual identity, from creating and applying our livery to producing merch and promotional materials. Media keeps our online presence alive, connecting with our community, sponsors, and alumni while showcasing the team’s work and celebrating our wins along the way.

M&O also allows members from any subteam to get involved in event planning, team culture, and recruitment. No design or media background required. Interested in learning more? Fill out the New Member Interest form linked in our bio!

Next up in our department spotlight series: Energetics! Our electrical team is responsible for the design, development, and manufacturing of all electrical systems and software controls. They ensure that our racecar competes safely, efficiently, and at the highest level. Energetics comprises of 6 subteams: Accumulator, Controls, Data Acquisition, Firmware, Grounded Low Voltage, and Tractive Systems.

If Structures builds the body, Energetics gives it a pulse, developing everything from the accumulator to the software keeping the car responsive and safe. Whether you’re into coding, printed circuit board development, or system architecture design, Energetics is where you get the chance to innovate and push the limits of electrical engineering.
