Congratulations to Ella Valencia (MHA/MBA '28) and Jamie Goldman (MHA/MBA '27), who received individual awards for their work at the 10th Annual Robbins Case Competition in Healthcare Management hosted by the Robbins Institute for Health Policy and Leadership at Baylor University.

Ella was recognized as a best presenter by the judges, while Jamie was recognized for her responses during the Q&A part of their presentation.

From 2019 to 2024, the Pennsylvania Rural Health Model (PARHM) paid 18 hospitals fixed amounts so they could invest the money in preventive health services to keep people from getting so sick that they needed inpatient care. The idea was that hospitals would benefit from a regular revenue source, and communities would benefit from becoming healthier overall.

HPM professor Lindsay Sabik and HPM PhD alum studied the outcomes, and their work was recently included in an edition of WHYY's "The Pulse" on rural healthcare.
