Equestrian Club at the University of Pittsburgh

Equestrian Club at the University of Pittsburgh Pittsburgh Equestrian Club is a registered student organization at the University of Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh Equestrian Team is a competitive sports club at the University of Pittsburgh. We ride under the instruction of Jim Boyce at BarGee Farms, located about 30 minutes north of campus. We are registered with the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA), meaning that we compete in shows against other colleges and universities in our region. With over 350 colleges and more than 7,500 rid

ers, the IHSA is the world's largest intercollegiate equestrian organization. Our riders compete in hunt seat classes ranging from beginning walk/trot to open over fences. We have members from all levels of riding; no prior horse experience is necessary. You do not have to try out to be in the club, however, your riding will be evaluated to determine which division you should be placed in. Feel free to message us or visit our Instagram account if you are interested in joining or have any questions about the team.

This year, the University of Pittsburgh's Pitt Day of Giving is on February 21st. It allows all university clubs and teams to raise money for their expenses that arise throughout the academic year, open now through Tuesday. Pittsburgh Equestrian Club has brought together a handful of members to form friendships, memories, and an enhanced college experience that we all appreciate greatly! We love our team, coach, horses, and supporters so much. Please consider donating to help lesson costs and make our team more accessible for all members. We appreciate your help! Thanks ya'll

In light of our Engage Pitt campaign starting this Friday, in the upcoming weeks we are going to feature a team member who will provide a testimonial about their experiences horseback riding and how the team influences their college experience. This week's featured rider is Kira Cunningham! Kira is a freshman pre-communication science disorders major who plans to specialize in speech pathology. Her favorite style of riding is hunter/jumper and her favorite horse to ride during weekly team lessons is Henry! Kira's favorite part of being able to ride in college is that, "it is something familiar to connect with here. I love that I can keep riding and meet new friends while doing it." A favorite one of her memories from this year was: "I loved going to the overnight Stonegate Show in Ohio because I got to spend time with the team and it was a lot of fun." :) To support riders like Kira and the rest of the team in continuing to ride in college, please check out our engage pitt fundraising campaign that will launch this Friday! The campaign will feature regular updates on the team and our fundraising goals! Thank you all :)
