If you are a 1st year teacher or know of a first year teacher we want to let you know about 2 events that will provide you with support to help you start your new career. The links are for a "Jump Start Mentoring Session https://mmea.net/2022-mmea-back-to-school-jumpstart/. Cameron High School is hosting the Drum Corps "Louisiana Stars" this Saturday, July 12th. They are on their first tour, from Lafayette, Louisiana heading up to Iowa.
They will rehearse from about 9am-4pm at our field, or in case of rain, inside the band room etc at the high school.
They will be performing a full uniform run-through at the field at 7:30pm, FREE of charge.
Bring your students and anyone else to watch rehearsals or the show!

Thank you to Chris Thomas and Lawson High School for stepping up and providing our performance venue!!! I am going to bullet information below:

--All-District Band on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Lawson High School, in Lawson, Missouri
--All three groups (Junior High, High School Honor, and High School Concert Bands) will rehearse & perform at Lawson
--Registration will begin at 8:00 am and rehearsals will begin promptly at 9:00 am
--Rehearsals will conclude by 4:30 pm and the concert has been moved up to 5:30 pm
--Lunch will be on a staggered schedule with each ensemble eating at a different time - you will receive a detailed time frame for each lunch shift at a later date
--The high school clinicians will remain the same, however, the Junior High Clinician needed to be changed and Danny Watring will be the new clinician for the Junior High Band

LUNCH
Because Lawson is located in a relatively remote area and there are very few restaurant options in Lawson, the Lawson Music Boosters have graciously offered to provide lunch for the day. The cost will be $5.00 per student (Checks can be made out to "Lawson Music Boosters"). The lunch menu will be chili, crackers, hotdogs, and desserts. Vegetarian chili available on request. Should any (or all) of your students not want to take advantage of this generous offer, you will be responsible to plan lunch for those students - keeping in mind that lunch will only be one hour and will be on a shift basis. Leaving the high school to travel to nearby towns will not be a viable plan!

PLEASE E-MAIL KEVIN GRIFFIN WITH A TOTAL NUMBER FOR STUDENTS/DIRECTORS FROM YOUR SCHOOL WHO PLAN ON EATING THE LUNCH PROVIDED BY THE LAWSON MUSIC BOOSTERS. WE MUST HAVE THESE NUMBERS BY THE END OF THE DAY ON MONDAY, JANUARY 6, 2014.

END OF THE DAY
With rehearsals concluding by 4:30 pm and the concert beginning at 5:30, it would be a good idea for you and your boosters organizations to plan on providing something for students to eat/drink before the early evening concert. Some of you may opt to have snacks and then go somewhere for dinner after the concert.
