Members of the UW-Platteville REC club assisted with a prescribed burn at the Sylvan Road Conservation Area, one of the gems of the SW chapter of The Prairie Enthusiasts. This was a complex burn with a wide variety of fuel types, and an amazing experience for both experienced and novice burners. Many thanks to site steward Dr. Tom Hunt for coordinating a successful burn and a great learning opportunity for all. Excited to see the beneficial impacts that this burn will produce!

Took advantage of the warm weather yesterday to get some fire on the ground with these awesome REC clubbers. The site was small but challenging with downslope winds and variable fuels, but the group did a great job keeping the fire under control and protecting the big oaks and hickory from getting scorched. Well done folks!
