A note about the Weekend of March 28th, 2026
Community safety is our number one priority
We are just a few short days away from Mudfest, the annual rugby tournament organized by UW-Platteville’s Rugby Clubs. Unfortunately, this tournament is often associated with heavy drinking.
We appreciate the celebration of athletics, competition, and sportsmanship among club rugby teams, but want to ensure everyone has a fun but safe time. In previous years, there have been reports of alcohol poisoning, property damage, noise complaints, and trespassing, among others.
Here are a few simple tips to be a good community member during Mudfest weekend.
Be a good Neighbor
A reminder that residents of Platteville properties are responsible for activities that occur on their property. The resident may be cited for any violations which occur on their property. Landlords will be notified. Living in a community means being considerate of others. This includes being respectful of others property and your noise level. UW-Platteville students are responsible for their guests. They are responsible for any behavior that occurs in their room or public areas of the residence halls.
Practice good alcohol safety
If you choose to drink, please do so responsibly. Alternate your drinks with water to pace yourself and stay hydrated. Plan a safe way home before going out. Never drink and drive. Even if you have only had one drink. Set a limit on the number of drinks you will have and do not go over it. Know the signs of alcohol poisoning: Vomiting. Slow or irregular breathing. Unconsciousness or inability to wake. Cold, clammy, or blue-tinted skin. Lack of coordination. Confusion or slowed responses

If you notice even one of these signs call 9-1-1. Alcohol poisoning can be deadly.
Don’t hesitate to call 9-1-1.
We care about keeping our community safe, which means providing them with the best assistance possible. The Platteville Police Department is in the practice of NOT issuing tickets to victims or witnesses who report medical emergencies or crimes. Exceptions may apply. UW-Platteville may grant medical amnesty to those who are seeking medical assistance.
Have a fun and safe weekend.

Tonight one of our Officers joined the AEC club as they tested their 1985 gray BMW 528i on the DYNO. This tests the power of the vehicle. This was believed to be the first time they have tested on campus in roughly 15 years. Thanks AEC for the cool demonstration!

As spring semester quickly approaches here are a few things we'd like you to remember...

Weather❄️
Please come back prepared for cold temperatures. Heated vests or winter jackets are recommended. Please have appropriate clothing on if you are walking to class and be aware of upcoming weather reports. Hypothermia sets in 30 minutes to an hour in very cold conditions.

Parking Permits 🚗
Make sure to purchase your parking permit! Remember your license plate is your permit, so please make sure your license plate is entered correctly and you have the correct vehicle listed on your permit. Daytime parking enforcement will start back on Monday.

Alcohol🍺
Please make smart decisions when coming back to campus. If you go out please have a plan to get home safely. Know your limit and do not over consume. Alcohol poisoning can lead to brain damage, comas or death.

Lets have a great spring semester and welcome back to campus!
