🎓CELEBRATING OUR COMMISSIONS | CELEBRAMOS A NUESTRAS COMISIONES 🎓

Congratulations to Cherrie Bratchett, who commissioned with the Administrator Credential on June 6! She summarized her experience with the quote “Hard work and dedication do pay off.” Taking courses in the credential program gave her many new practices to make her program better that she is excited to implement, such as SOPs, budgeting methods, and family engagement strategies. Even though she faced challenges, such as serving as a business owner and a parent, she overcame them by taking things one step at a time and keeping the end goal in mind. Her advice to students preparing to commission is “Presenting can be intimidating, but having the support of the team really helps calm your nerves. We are all just people, and you’re simply the main speaker at the moment. It’ll be over before you know it!” Finally, she wishes the best to her fellow students: “Do your best. Take it one day at a time. Make a plan when things get tough and remember that you’ve got this!”

🎓CELEBRATING OUR COMMISSIONS | CELEBRAMOS A NUESTRAS COMISIONES 🎓

Congratulations to Fatoumata Sanneh who commissioned with the Administrator Credential on June 6. She also graduated with her B.S. Professional Studies with the Early Childhood Education Administration focus area. She most enjoyed the opportunity to work with children and see them grow during her studies. Even though she experienced challenges, she appreciated that she could ask her professor or our program manager, Chenoa, for help, which especially helped her when learning new projects or navigating the commission process. Through the program, Fatoumata better understands child development, classroom management, professionalism, family communication, and creating developmentally appropriate learning environments for children. This allows her to be more confident when serving children and their families and providing them with a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment to foster their growth. Her advice to other students is to stay organized, manage your time well, and not be afraid to ask for help when needed.

🎓CELEBRATING OUR COMMISSIONS | CELEBRAMOS A NUESTRAS COMISIONES 🎓

Congratulations to Oswaldo Velasquez, who commissioned with the Preschool Credential on May 30! He enjoyed learning every day and being able to immediately apply what he learned in his credential with the children he serves. He noted that this was one of the most impactful parts of the credential. Many of the things he experienced with children in his daycare made more sense after having a pedagogical foundation through his credential courses. That is, through what he learned, he could better understand the children he serves and their families. Oswaldo noted that he learned about the immersive nature of working with children: “every one of the developmental areas in children relates to another. They are all part of one system, and have to work together”. His advice to other students is to be organized with your responsibilities and time, and to see the importance of what you are learning. “The well being of children in ECE programs depends on us.” Finally, he shares his gratitude to WECA for enabling him to pursue this credential through the TEACH Early Childhood Wisconsin program.

🎓CELEBRATING OUR COMMISSIONS | CELEBRAMOS A NUESTRAS COMISIONES🎓

Congratulations to Liliana Quintero who commissioned with her Administrator Credential on May 30! She presented her project “Childhood Gym: Where we fight against being sedentary, childhood obesity, and screen time” to the group during this ceremony, a project she created using concepts from her coursework and applied to her own center. She enjoyed that she had the opportunity to take courses in her native language with attentive staff members through UW-Platteville’s Child Care and Education program. Liliana noted that combining work and study was a challenge, but the solution was to be very organized with your time and with taking on responsibilities and to put into practice what you learn in courses right away. Finally, she would like to encourage fellow providers to take advantage of the TEACH Early Childhood Wisconsin Scholarship. “Don’t miss this opportunity, not only to gain knowledge, but also it is a great personal achievement. There is a lot to learn, and it is a great benefit to your life.”
