We’ve launched! Looking to read about all the cool things your friends have been up to this semester? Check us out! MCVA OFFSCRIPT is a platform created for students by the students. This blog is for students to share their personal stories, projects, events, suggestions for success and calls for creativity in the MCVA department. Our goal as a student run blog is to light the fire that equips our peers with the tools to encourage collaboration, creativity, and exploration as we work to build a stronger sense of community outside of the classroom. Students have words to say, so we give them a platform to say them!

OFFSCRIPT is a blog anyone within the MCVA department can contribute to as we are always looking for students who may be interested in submitting content on a freelance basis. Do you have a project you would like to share? Tell us about it! Got an event you need promoted? We can help you with that! Looking for fellow students to work with on an upcoming project or film? OFFSCRIPT is the best place for that! Submit anything and everything Pace MCVA related!

Our blog is a great place for students who want to get more involved or who just want to appreciate the work of their peers. All content is Pace MCVA related, a.k.a., content that is relevant to student interest. Students of the department can keep up to date on events, find opportunities to collaborate on, or relax with some light reading and film entertainment. After all, it’s a fun place! Let off steam and hangout with OFFSCRIPT.

If you are interested in writing or have a concept for the blog, email [email protected] for more information. http://offscript.blogs.pace.edu/

✨Student Testimonial: "I switched my major to Public Relations early in my college career, and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. This major itself offers hands on experience, allowing their students to write up pitches, copy for our department's social media account, and create campaigns on how to improve our major. From simulations in case studies, to marketing ourselves in celebrity public relations, this department allows us to work on fun yet real life work. The MCVA department is a tight knit community, and has opened my eyes to many different aspects of the media industry.”

✨Student Testimonial “Case Studies is a make or break class and, for me, it made me realize just how much I loved Public Relations. Every aspect of it: handling a crisis, running social media accounts, being a spokesperson, creating PSAs, etc. It’s hands-on, simulated courses like Case Studies that set the MCVA department apart.”

What's it like to be living on campus during the pandemic? Check out this article by Christina Bubba.

Although students were encouraged to move back home in mid-March as a COVID-19 preventative, campus remains open for registered students and essential employees. One student who registered to stay on campus, Pat Ortiz, ultimately decided to continue to live on campus for the purpose of her academics. Article by Christina Bubba. Dr. Mirjana Pantic has published a study titled "Engagement With Live Blogs: When Passive Consumption Overpowers Participation" with a focus on the default online news format for covering breaking news - a live blog. Specifically, the published article examined citizen participation in live blogs in the changing media ecosystem from the public sphere perspective. The study revealed that news consumers are not overly enthusiastic about participating in live blogging. This is an important finding for digital journalism as it implies that the capacity of online platforms to accommodate participation does not necessarily translate into citizens’ willingness to participate. The study has been published in the Electronic News, a quarterly journal of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC).

Prior to Pace’s transition to remote learning, Jana Ciric, senior swimmer and an international student has shared her experience about studying at Pace University in the MCVA’s Digital Storytelling class. She talked about how her teammates and the environment pushed her to give her best in sports but also how the work ethics she established at a younger age helped her earn a high GPA while simultaneously achieving success in sports. Jana is an outstanding student and athlete, a winner of Women's Swimming and Diving Sport Excellence Award. She is majoring in computer science and already has a job lined up for her upon graduation. Like Dr. Mirjana Pantic who teaches Digital Storytelling this semester, Jana also comes from Serbia, a country in Southeastern Europe that was once part of the former Yugoslavia. @ciricka97 @mirapantic

I really appreciate how Pace's MCVA department truly helps their students get their foot into the door with internship opportunities with great companies. Pace MCVA really helps their students get their dream jobs!
Pace’s MCVA department is no stranger to giving its students hands-on experiences and allowing them to forge their own paths in creating multimedia content! Look no further than the digital cinema and filmmaking subsection of the department, featuring students responsible for developing many award-winning short films and documentaries. Of course, these accomplishments were all possible through all the amazing resources at the students’ disposal. Cameras, lights, mics, editing softwares, and of course, amazing professors are just some of the tools the department has to offer! Just check out this promotional video...Pace's filmmakers are the real deal😎
MCVA Alumni: Pace's annual Alumni Holiday Party is on December 4 at Naples 45 in the MetLife Building (adjacent to Grand Central Terminal) in NYC. This is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with old friends and make new connections. You can learn more and register online at http://alumni.pace.edu/holiday-party.
Hello everyone. I am conducting a survey for one of my graduate classes. The focus is on Lucio's Pizzeria in Pleasantville, NY to help establish a reputation analysis. I would really appreciate it if you could take the time to complete it! Here is the link: https://forms.gle/5A3C1SeGcDJPAbuZ8. Thank you in advance!
Awesome page! I love seeing such talented students! As a fellow student, I thought it would be helpful to provide some info on this up coming sci-fi thriller Empathy, inc. This sci-fi thriller kept me at the edge of my seat from beginning to end. From the black and white setting, to the insert shots, this film kept an uneasy and omniscient tone that is needed for all good thriller movies. A great film to watch whenever you need a study break, feel free to check out the trailer on Youtube and to watch out for the VOD release, September 24th!
Tokyo 2020 is right around the corner! Internships for the summer Olympics have already been posted. For a chance to intern for one of the world's greatest events, apply here:
If anyone could complete my one minute survey about The right to be forgotten I would be really grateful.
