Fourteen Lakeland University students and two faculty members spent nine days exploring public lands across western South Dakota and northeastern Wyoming as part of a travel study course focused on the history, significance and future of America's public lands.
From Badlands National Park and Custer State Park to Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial and Bear Lodge, students engaged in hands-on learning that connected natural sciences, humanities and social sciences with real-world experiences.
Along the way, they developed new perspectives, formed lasting friendships and gained a deeper appreciation for the places that help shape our nation's history and landscapes.
