The Lakeland women's soccer team played its second straight close match to start the season, again falling by a goal. Mikayla Belasco and Malaya Sperber both scored goals but Monmouth gets the Muskies by the same score as last year

MONMOUTH, Ill. – Mikayla Belasco (Sr.-Muskegon, Mich.) and Malaya Sperber (Jr.-Cedar Grove, Wis.) scored goals but the Lakeland University women's soccer team ran out of time in its comeback in a 3-2 loss to Monmouth (Ill.) College Friday evening.

More from last night (sorry for the delay, it was a long Tuesday night), the Lakeland women's soccer team opened its campaign with a narrow loss to Ripon at Taylor Field. Ingrid Steinbock made a boatload of saves

PLYMOUTH, Wis. – Ripon College's Alyssa Klementzos scored the first and only goal of the match in the 68th minute and the Lakeland University women's soccer team was defeated 1-0 in its season opener Tuesday night at John Taylor Memorial Field.

Everything but the win last night. In what was almost certainly the longest match in Lakeland volleyball history-well over 2 1/2 hours-the Muskies and Carthage went back and forth all night. The Firebirds prevail in five long, all very close sets, but the Fish showed well against a team not that far out of the NCAA Division III top 25 rankings at the start of the season:

PLYMOUTH, Wis. – The Lakeland University women's volleyball team rallied from two sets down to tie the match but Carthage College used a run late in the deciding set to pull ahead and outlast the Muskies in five sets Tuesday night at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.
