Every year, for the first full week in August, lay leaders and pastors get together at Summer Institute of Theology on the FLBC campus to continue their ministry education on practical topics that can be put into practice in their congregations.
This year, Rev. Alex Amiot taught on the book of Matthew, focusing on Jesus’ fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies. Dr. Nathan Olson made the study of theology approachable and practical, relating it to everyday lives of people in the congregation. Rev. Craig Johnson taught on how to form a gospel culture in churches. Eventgoers also heard from Andrew Hanson on constructing a worship service and Dr. Martin Horn on History and values of the AFLC.

Several FLBC staff members and the Covenant summer team had a blast serving at FLY Beyond a couple of weeks ago! Attendees enjoyed engaging sessions throughout the week, including Bible studies led by Dr. Brent Olson, apologetics sessions led by Tim Barnett, and evening worship services led by Pastor Sam Wellumson. Campers also participated in intentional small group discussions and a variety of recreational activities.

The intentionality of the small group experience continues to make a lasting impact on both campers and leaders, and it is consistently mentioned as a highlight from this camp. FLY Beyond remains a meaningful time of training, discipleship, fellowship, and worship, and we are grateful for the many ways God continues to work through this camp.

When the last presentation in his Leadership and Discipleship class wrapped up class 45 minutes early, Seminary Dean, Dr. James Molstre, dismissed students, assuming the seminarians would be excited to get back a few additional minutes. Instead, the entire class stayed an extra hour and a half to take advantage of Molstre’s knowledge of pastoral ministry.
