We hope this site will help you reconnect and stay connected with your alma mater. The ISU Alumni Association exists to provide a lifelong two-way connection between alumni and their university. It acts as the guardian of tradition, keeps members informed about their alma mater and their fellow alumni, provides opportunities for alumni to get together in social and educational settings, and promotes the needs of the university and its students. Every current and former ISU student who has accumulated at least 24 credits has FREE membership in the Alumni Association. Founded in 1906, the Alumni Association is governed by a board of directors that meets three times a year. Day-to-day operations are handled by a full-time staff of five at the Office of Alumni Relations located in the H.F.

“You can’t make money playing video games.”

That’s what Tim May remembers his parents telling him growing up.

Today, Tim, President of Direct Communications, is helping create opportunities for a new generation of students through Idaho State University’s new Direct Communications Esports Arena.

The $520,000 gift from Direct Communications helped make this state-of-the-art space possible — giving Bengal esports student-athletes a place to compete at the highest level and creating a space for students, high school teams and collegiate teams to gather, compete and build community.

And at the arena’s unveiling, Tim brought his own kids to experience it.

As esports continues to grow, so do the career opportunities surrounding it, from software engineering and broadcasting to aviation, military careers and more.

Here’s to the students building what comes next — and the generations cheering them on. 🐯🎮

Thank you, Direct Communications, for helping make those opportunities possible.

For nearly six decades, Brent Lowman has used art, education, and creativity to build community and inspire generations of students. 🧡🎨

A 1968 Idaho State University graduate, Lowman dedicated 34 years to teaching art in Pocatello, sharing his passion for drawing, painting, and pottery with students while encouraging creativity, curiosity, and confidence.

Beyond the classroom, he has exhibited his work throughout Idaho and the Intermountain West and remains active in the Pocatello arts community.

His greatest legacy, however, may be the countless former students who still share memories of his classroom and the lessons that went far beyond art.

A lifelong artist, educator, and mentor whose creativity continues to inspire. 🐯

A Pocatello native and Idaho State College graduate, Judith was a trailblazer as the only female chemistry major at ISU—and possibly the first. Her career took her from teaching science in the U.S. and Germany to advocating for women’s rights in Washington, D.C., and ultimately a 33-year career in federal civil service.

Her work included developing Army training programs and supporting international security assistance efforts around the world.

From pioneering chemistry student to educator, advocate, and federal leader, Judith’s life reflects the curiosity, service, and leadership of a true Bengal. 🐯

From the South Pole to pioneering psychology in Idaho, Dr. Haviland’s career has been defined by service, innovation, and advocacy. 🧡

A former U.S. Navy psychologist, she served in Antarctica and became the first psychologist to earn flight status for the Navy’s P-3 aircraft. After years of clinical practice and consulting, she helped advance prescribing psychology in Idaho.

In 2017, Idaho became the fifth state to authorize appropriately trained psychologists to prescribe medication. Dr. Haviland helped establish ISU’s clinical psychopharmacology program and became its inaugural graduating class member. She later became the first prescribing psychologist hired at St. Alphonsus Regional Hospital.

A trailblazer whose work continues to expand what psychology can do. 🐯
