It's 🔥National Heat Awareness Day!🔥 What better way to stay cool than… skiing off a high jump at the ? In 1951, Olympic skier Willis Olson jumped the highest artificially made ski jump in the world at 225 feet and a 500-foot slope. The jump required 8 million pounds of ice to be ground into snow. The programs from the very first commencement at the California State Polytechnic College Kellogg-Voorhis Campus, held in the Rose Garden on June 14, 1957. 🌹 That first graduating class had just 57 students.

Nearly 70 years later, Cal Poly Pomona’s Class of 2026 includes almost 6,900 graduates, a remarkable reminder of how much the university has grown while continuing its mission of opportunity and education. This program is part of the CPP Commencement collection in Special Collections & Archives!
