Accountant. Naturopathic doctor. Educator. Associate Professor. 🌿

Dr. Amy Bader’s career has been anything but a straight line, but every turn led her closer to the work she felt called to do.

Before becoming a naturopathic physician, Dr. Bader built a successful career in accounting. Still, her passion for nutrition, herbal medicine, and whole-person care continued to grow. When she discovered naturopathic medicine, everything clicked.

“I feel like this medicine was meant to be my life’s work. It’s what I was meant to do to give back.”

Today, we are proud to celebrate Dr. Bader’s promotion to Associate Professor at NUNM! 💚

Through storytelling, humor, and real clinical experiences, she helps students turn knowledge into confidence and grow into the physicians they are becoming.
Her journey is a powerful reminder that it is never too late to follow the path that feels most meaningful.

Learning Chinese Medicine where centuries of tradition meet modern hospital care. 🇨🇳

This week, NUNM students participating in the China Global Health Experience stepped inside 𝐁𝐞𝐢𝐣𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐟𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 for an extraordinary firsthand look at Chinese Medicine in clinical practice.

Across visits to the Oncology, Acupuncture, Pediatrics, and Peripheral Vascular Disease departments, students observed how traditional Chinese Medicine is thoughtfully integrated into modern, hospital-based patient care.

These moments are what global learning is all about: expanding perspectives, deepening clinical understanding, and connecting classroom knowledge with real-world patient care.

We are incredibly grateful to our students and faculty for sharing these photos and updates with us throughout their two-week journey, taking place August 17–30.

🍃 Stay indoors when air quality is poor.
😷 Wear a properly fitted N95 if you must be outside.
🏡 Create a clean-air space at home.

🩺 Don’t ignore persistent coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, or chest discomfort.

Your health is worth protecting, not just today, but for the long term.

At NUNM Health Centers, we’re here to help you navigate wildfire season with evidence-informed, whole-person care.

🏆 Nearly 50 years of practice. Generations of physicians inspired. One extraordinary legacy.

NUNM proudly celebrates Dr. Noel Peterson, ND, DAAPM, recipient of the 2026 AANP Louisa & Benedict Lust Award. One of the Naturopathic profession’s highest honors.

An architect of modern, full-scope Naturopathic Medicine, Dr. Peterson helped advance Oregon’s scope of practice and pioneer prolotherapy, PRP, injection therapy, and regenerative medicine.

Beyond his clinical impact, he has served as a mentor and model for generations of physicians. Alongside his wife and longtime partner, Teresa Shelley, his extraordinary generosity has also helped make NUNM’s new campus and its debt-free future possible.

Dr. Peterson, your legacy lives in every healer you’ve inspired and in every life they will go on to touch. Thank you. 💚

Please join us in celebrating this deeply deserved honor! 👏
