Freshman Art Education major and secretary of WISE, Riley Galloway gives appreciation to the women of SSU with painting the Spirit Rock, “So happy to have been given the opportunity to paint Shawnee State University’s Spirit Rock. This spirit rock is known for it’s reoccurring makeover in front of the Morris University Center. I was asked to paint the rock in theme of Women’s History Month and Women Empowerment. We want all women to to sign the rock to show unity of the girls on campus. Please sign anywhere but the front where it says, “empower women.” Riley is also the President and founder of SSU Club of Artistry.

Good morning, everyone!

We would like to invite everyone to participate in, “Take Back the Week.”

This is a kickoff to Sexual Assault Awareness Month with the Title IX office and Peer Drop-In Center involving a week of empowerment and healing of survivors who have experienced sexual assault. In the poster, all events throughout the week are posted!

This entire week is leading up to, “Take Back the Night.” This will be a vigil held at Tracy Park to honor the survivors. Survivors will be sharing their stories.

BINGO!

What a wonderful meeting where we played Women’s History Month themed BINGO with our members. During the BINGO game, the winner of each round were awarded with a t-shirt, button pin, and a feminist-sticker.

Once each winner was called, we would introduce our BINGO attendees to inspiring women who had strong impact on history and society.

We had the delightful opportunity to have Desiree Issac, Assistant General Counsel and Title IX Coordinator of SSU, to be our guest at tonight’s meeting. Desiree was our BINGO-number announcer and made our members aware of Take Back the Night and Take Back the Week at Shawnee State. These events will be focused on taking back the power against sexual violence. Throughout the week, multiple events will be held leading up to a night of marching to Tracey Park, where victims will share their stories. Please check back for more information.
