Octavia Duvigneaud ’24, a first-year student at The Crane School of Music, recently received an extraordinary gift—a brand new Courtois Trombone worth more than $5,000!

And what made it all possible was the philanthropic support of SUNY Potsdam alumnus Jordan Olinsky ’17. After landing a job with Buffet Crampon, the company that owns trombone manufacturer Courtois, Olinsky decided to give back to his alma mater by purchasing the instrument for a talented student in need!

As Duvigneaud continues her studies at Crane, she will carry the constant reminder of his generosity on stage as she performs at Hosmer Hall and Snell Music Theater over the coming years.

A student who started her journey in the Bridges Program and never ever stopped working hard to take advantage of every resource and every opportunity that came her way! Super proud of you Aliaksandra.

Aliaksandra Reutovich ’22 has become the first student to be named a Goldwater Scholar, receiving the most prestigious undergraduate scholarship in the natural sciences, mathematics and engineering in America. A double-major in biochemistry and biology, Reutovich was honored with the 2021-22 Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship, making her one of just 410 students to receive the award, out of 5,000 nominations from across the country.
