Some pictures taken by Martin Walker of the Biology vs Chemistry soccer game that was played on Sunday October 18th. Everyone had a fun time. Congratulations goes to the Chemistry team for their triumph, though I hear it was a close game. Can’t wait for our next game possibly volleyball this winter.

Quant/ Environmental lab field trip to Potsdam WWTP and WFP. The students enjoyed the trip to the WWTP and WFP, we finished it up by sampling water samples at Sandstone Park in Potsdam, theses samples will be analyzed in future labs.

The SUNY Potsdam chapter of the chemistry honor society, Gamma Sigma Epsilon, recently inducted four new members at the Lobster House restaurant in Norwood.

Here, the current president (Ilse Kollmar) and secretary (Emma Mullaly) read out the initiation statement for the new inductees.

SUNY Potsdam chemists recently attended the 16th Annual Research Symposium organized by the Northern New York Section of the ACS.

Congratulations to Sean Henley for winning an award the top undergraduate oral presentation, a superb talk about his research on ferritin with Dr. Bou-Abdallah, beating strong competition from SLU, Clarkson and SUNY Plattsburgh!

Ilse Kollmar also gave an excellent presentation on her work with Dr. Walker, on the synthesis of phenyl vinyl sulfone; the picture shows them along with fellow Walker group member Emma Mullaly.
