We are so proud of Chase Bond '26, recipient of the 2026 Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence. Her research in Environmental Studies and integral work on the St. Lawrence County Public Health Mosquito Surveillance Program contributed to her selection for this recognition. She traveled to Albany on April 27 to receive her commendation from SUNY Chancellor John King and Dr. Suzanne Smith, SUNY Potsdam President. Congratulations, Chase, for this well-deserved honor!

Students from the SUNY Potsdam WISER Center began work on the garden at the 1844 house this Saturday. A walk through was done by WISER Coordinator Ray Bowdish with executive chef Amy discussing ideas and how to tackle the gardens. The team this Saturday included Garrett O'Hara, Gabby Mazzullo, Logan Kinney, Annabel Ubeda, Kendyll Mack, Nico Petroccione, and Maddie Healy. We were able to take down some intruding vines and thin out the plants that have taken over, allowing the hostas to pop again! We also pulled some weeds and cleaned up the flowers hanging onto the sidewalk. This is just the beginning of the project, and we will be back to work some WISER magic on these amazing gardens!

What a fantastic visit to the WISER Center by Dr. Robin Wall Kimmerer! Participants transplanted the three sisters and serviceberry shrubs (complements of St. Lawrence Nurseries), and listened to words of wisdom from Dr. Kimmerer and the WISER Center's own Ray Bowdish!
