Congratulations to Erin Covan (’26), who has been named a 2026 Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholar by The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation — one of just 60 students nationwide selected for the highly competitive award.

The scholarship provides up to $55,000 annually to help community college students complete their bachelor’s degrees with minimal debt.

This fall, she will attend Bard College to study language and culture, focusing on Spanish, Mandarin Chinese and ASL.

“I'm leaving DCC with so much more than I ever imagined,” said Erin. “I am so grateful and excited for what’s to come.”

Erin's achievement highlights the opportunities available through SUNY - The State University of New York's community colleges and the transformative power of a community college education.

Big news for workforce development in the Hudson Valley! Dutchess Community College has been awarded $3 million through Empire State Development’s Upstate Revitalization Initiative, alongside nearly $2 million from the New York State Office of Strategic Workforce Development, to expand its Center of Excellence for Business, Industry & Innovation (COEBII) — and construction is officially underway!

This major investment will transform the Fishkill site with 75,000+ sq. ft. of new and renovated space, creating hands-on learning labs in high-demand fields like automotive technology, automation, HVAC clean tech, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, construction, architecture, business and entrepreneurship.
