So, next Monday we'll be having Open Climb Night as normal (Family Climb 6 - 7:30 p.m. followed by Adult Climb 7:30 - 9 p.m.) but we'll also be using this night as a Top Ropes night! What this means is 3/5 of our rock wall lanes (the more difficult lanes) will have a rope anchored at the top. Our staff will be belaying so you can come and practice on the more difficult routes that you haven't quite mastered on the Auto Belay!

And you don't have to be a certain skill level or have Top Rope climbed before in order to climb on Top Rope lanes. In fact, this type of climbing is easier because if you fall, you don't have to restart! Hope to see everyone there.

We're making a BIG investment in student success thanks to a nearly $3 million, grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The funding launches NWC TRAILS (Technology, Retention, Access, Innovation, Learning, and Student Support), a new initiative designed to expand online program options and strengthen student services across campus. We’d like to congratulate the latest graduates of our Surgical Technology program, Cadie Cumin, Michelle McDonald, and Angela Budd, and thank Renee Phipps for her work as instructor. These students have put in a lot of work to prepare for a career in a high-pressure environment where their skills are needed in a role many people never see.

On Wednesday, October 7, we’ll be welcoming back NWC alum and professional photographer Lindsay Linton Buk for a lighting and portrait photography demo. It’s a unique opportunity for our current students and recent grads to see exactly what goes into this type of work and interact with someone who sat in the same classrooms they’re in now. You can read more at bit.ly/4yMfYSd and thank you to Lindsay in advance for taking time out of her schedule to do this.

Over the next few weeks at various schools across the region, high school students will have a chance to visit with representatives from dozens of colleges, universities, and other organizations to learn more about what their future might look like. Northwest College annually hosts one of these events, and it’s a chance to get potential Trappers on campus to visit one-on-one with our admissions people.
In this case, we turned Sawyer loose and he had a steady stream of visitors at the prime location in Cabre Gym, but there was also time afterward for some to relax outside the student center in the wonderful weather. So even if your path doesn’t bring you back to NWC, we’re glad you spent part of the day with us.

If you're a high school student who wants to get an early start on college, there's good news coming from the State of Wyoming. Lawmakers have established an annual $10 million dual enrollment reimbursement program to ensure students will continue to have access to this opportunity. It's a smart way to save on future costs as you begin college coursework while still in high school. We've got the details at bit.ly/4y06D9u and you can also learn more about NWC's dual enrollment program at nwc.edu/academics/dual-or-concurrent.html .

Well, it's been a week since Paint the Town Red came to an end and there were a lot of photos to go through, so we've got another batch to share. Next year will be the 10th anniversary of this event, and we'd never be able to do this without the support of this entire community. So thank you again!

Please be aware too that there will be no open climb night this coming Monday due to the Labor Day holiday.
