The Princess Anne Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was chartered on May 5, 1979. This chapter serves Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester Counties on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world. Founded on

January 13, 1913 by twenty-two collegiate women at Howard University, the
Sorority is currently a sisterhood of more than 200,000 predominately Black college educated
women. This includes over 900 chapters located in the United States, England, Japan (Tokyo and Okinawa), Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas, and the Republic of Korea. The major programs of the sorority are based upon the organization’s Five Point Programmatic Thrust: Economic Development, Physical and Mental Health, Educational Development, Political Awareness and Involvement, and International Awareness and Involvement. TOMORROW IS 2026 PRIMARY ELECTION DAY. But today’s post is a huge congratulations to our phenomenal Soror Darlene Taylor on her re-election as the Mayor of Crisfield, Maryland!

We are bursting with pride as we celebrate her continued leadership, fortitude, and unwavering drive to serve her community. As the first African American and first female mayor in Crisfield's history, Soror Taylor continues to break barriers and pave the way for a brighter future.

From her incredible work securing over $1.5 million in funding for youth development through her nonprofit It Takes a Village to Help Our Children, to championing local economic growth and community public safety, her wins are a testament to what dedicated leadership looks like.

The Princess Anne Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. holds a special bond with Mayor Taylor. We remain deeply grateful for her unwavering support and sisterly love, especially when she served as the most gracious host for our chapter's first-ever Delta Day in The City right in Crisfield. Her dedication to bridging the gap between community advocacy and local government is an inspiration to us all.

This close mayoral race further demonstrates the absolute importance of every single vote. Change happens when we show up at the ballot box - Your Vote is Your Voice!

Our this month went to the incredible DOLL Soror Makya Purnell! This special moment during chapter meetings gives us a chance to honor a different sister, and yesterday’s was well deserved.

From touching testimonials from her family and her Spring 2023 Line Sisters, the room was filled with love and appreciation. These are the moments that truly highlight the history and heart of our sisterhood. It was a perfect day to celebrate our phenomenal Technology Chair, as she is busy with the Eastern Shore Juneteenth events on Friday and Saturday [more on that later]. We appreciate Soror Purnell and we are so happy to celebrate her. ❤️

What a beautiful way to wrap up our Juneteenth celebrations.

Yesterday evening, after the parade, chapter members stepped out to support the incredible artwork of our very own Arts and Letters Chair, Soror Mildred Johnson at the Inspire Gallery Juneteenth & Pride Month Art Exhibit.

We were absolutely blown away by her wonderful pieces, as well as the other stunning artwork featured in this beautifully curated exhibit. Seeing her talent on display was a moment of pure pride and sisterhood!

If you missed the opening yesterday, don’t worry! Luckily, the exhibit will be open for most of the summer. Make sure to drop by, show some love, and experience the collection for yourself.

TODAY BEGINS EARLY VOTING IN MARYLAND! It’s a great time to check your status. If you aren’t registered, no worry! There’s still time.

Maryland allows same day voter registration which means that you can register in person during Early Voting or on Primary Election Day.

Just a heads up: you’ll need a document that proves where you live. This could be: a state-issued driver’s license, state-issued ID, paycheck, change of address card, bank statement, or utility bill. We have all of this and more on our election hub at www.paacdst.org/VOTE2026.
