Last evening, this amazing young woman did an entire recital, dedicated to songbirds… IYKYK. Clearly I was over the moon! Catherine Creed has the voice of an angel, with the facility and range of some sort of … well, songbird! The agency she demonstrated over her incredibly demanding music was expert. Her technical prowess and beautiful sound is partnered by a full heart and a spirit that shines forth! And…she did all of this while performing the role of Nanetta in our production of Falstaff… If you get a chance, travel to Bard to see this fabulous singer this summer… Or anywhere her exciting future may take her. She’s a rare bird.♥️ ‘Such gratitude for her collaborator, Dr. Shannon Hesse, and to her magnificent coach, Tommy Jaber.

Last Wednesday the Rice Chorale performed the astounding Bach 21 cantata. The quartet of beautiful singers, Caitlin Aloia, Jillian Krempasky, Adam Catangui, and (not pictured) William Dopp made this teacher mighty proud. Thank you, as always, to the brilliant Maestro and beloved friend, Tom Jaber

Congratulations to all who made this year’s Lindsey Christiansen Art Song Festival such a memorable event! The singing was marvelous, full of drama, sensitivity and great musical story-telling, all led by the marvelous Dr. JJ Penna. The tributes to our late colleague, Dalton Baldwin, were informative, heartfelt, and very moving.

Very proud of alumna Felicia Lauren

I’m back home after a life-changing week in Prague. I’m overjoyed to share with you all that I received the Birgit Nilsson Prize at the Operalia Competition.

I performed Elsa’s Dream in the Final with Placido Domingo at the Prague National Theatre. This was a particularly momentous performance for me, as Elsa and I go *way* back. I’ve been performing this aria for about 7 years, and I have learned a lot about patience and faith through this strong-willed woman. Lessons I’m still integrating into my daily life.

Thank you all for your endless messages, texts and emails, sending love and support!! I’m slowly floating back to earth. Onward!

Cheers xoxo
