Tomorrow, Thursday December 5th, Resource Recovery will be having its end of year sale. This sale will consist of five furniture items for $5. For computer equipment and electronics it will be buy one item, get one free. Once again the sale will be tomorrow, Thursday December 5th. The sale will begin at 10am to 1pm. There will be no early morning 8:30am to 9:30am hours. Only 10am to 1pm. The gate for Resource Recovery will not open up until 9:30am. Please make sure to bring a vehicle large enough to take the item(s) you would like, as we do not hold any items. Also all sales are credit/debit card only. The address for the sale will be 755 Alexander Road. Please use the truck entrance, and Resource Recovery is located at door 4.

Keeping clothes and books out of the waste stream is something new the university is trying to do. This was especially true at the end of year move out time. This year we where able to keep eight gaylords full of clothes out of the waste stream. Also thanks to the Office of Sustainability we kept nine full gaylords of books out of the waste stream. Resource Recovery would just like to thank all that helped make this possible.

We are back, and open to the regular sale days. Wednesdays from 9am to 12pm for approved non-profit organizations. Thursdays from 8:30am to 9:30am for university personnel and Thursdays from 10am to 1pm for the general public. These are just a few pictures of what we have, but take a look at the website as we are fully stocked in office furniture. We hope to see you soon.

Resource Recovery will be having a $5 sale on Thursday August 30th from 10am to 1pm. All items in stock will be $5. No matter what the item is, it will be $5. Please make sure you have a vehicle large enough to take your items as we do not hold anything. Location will be 755 Alexander Road. Use the truck entrance, and surplus is located at door 4. We now have a gate at our location, and the gate will not be open until 9:30am. Thank You

Landfill Usage Decreasing

• Over the next five years, total U.S. landfill capacity is expected to decrease by more than 15%, according to data from Waste Business Journal. An estimated 10-15 years of landfill capacity will remain by 2021.

• Solid Waste Environmental Excellence Protocol (SWEEP) leaders Jim Thompson and Rob Watson cite China's volatile import regulations as a major driver for this decrease in capacity, noting that "the bottom has dropped out of the recycling market."

The data shows the Northeast is most heavily affected, with an annual rate of loss of 5%, while the West is the least affected, with an annual rate of loss of 1.5%.

The university has switched the compactor that it is using on campus. The old one came to Resource Recovery, and through GovDeals we were able to sell it. It's new home will be in Vermont. Here are a few pictures of the pickup.
