Now and Then: Going from the Y to the NBA stage ✨

BYU has a growing legacy in the NBA Draft. Egor Dëmin was selected No. 8 overall by the Brooklyn Nets in the 2025 NBA Draft, joining Jimmer Fredette, who was picked No. 10 overall by the Sacramento Kings in 2011.

Now, AJ Dybantsa is projected to be a top-two pick, and Richie Saunders is expected to hear his name called in the second round. If both Cougars are selected as projected, it would mark the first time since 1951 that two BYU players have been drafted in the same year.

The next chapter of Cougar basketball history is being written so tune in on June 23-24th. 💙🏀

Throwback to March 1983 when Marlene Begay made history as the first Native American woman to graduate from BYU with a degree in electrical engineering.

“People who work to help [Native American] tribes in their economic and social problems must be of those tribes so they can utilize the traditions, religions, and behaviors of their people to solve problems and implement successful programs.” -Charlie Stewart, a native American masters student in 1983

Physical sight may shape how we see the world, but spiritual sight shapes how we see the Savior. Thank you, Dr. Brooks, for your witness of Christ’s boundless love.🔦✨

"I clearly see my Savior in the center of my spiritual visual field. Could He one day restore my physical sight? Undoubtedly. [...] But even then, I should testify even more boldly of the greater way in which the works of God have been made manifest in my life, in the restoration of my spiritual vision.
I testify that He loves us with a depth and intensity for which there are no words." - Dr. Brooks

I hope you will ask yourself: What am I doing, right now, to build a community of Christ at BYU?" - Elysa M. Dishman
