Willard and Alice S. Marriott, the Brigham Young University Marriott School of Business is recognized around the world as one of the best places to hire graduates with high ethical standards. Approximately 2,000 undergraduate students and 1,000 graduate students are currently enrolled. Nearly two-thirds of students are bilingual, underscoring the school’s emphasis on international businesses. The school is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Join us in welcoming entrepreneurship professor Trent Williams as the new director of the Rollins Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology at BYU Marriott! 🎉

Prior to joining the Department of Management at BYU Marriott, he taught in Syracuse University’s Whitman School of Management and in Indiana University’s MBA program. His research centers on value creation through organizational emergence, and he has published widely on related topics, including resourcefulness, resilience, and decision-making. He currently serves as an editor at Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice and is division chair-elect for the Academy of Management's Entrepreneurship Division.

On what makes BYU's entrepreneurial community stand out, Williams shared:

“What makes entrepreneurship at BYU special isn’t any single group—it’s what happens when students from across campus, faculty, mentors, alumni, and friends of the university all engage in the same act of creating, each bringing something the others cannot. Few places can draw on that much willing talent unified around a meaningful purpose; BYU can. Creating is a divine act and when done together, it shapes each of us into more than we could become alone.”

We're also grateful to Michael Hendron for his years of leadership at the Rollins Center since 2017, including the last three years as director. Hendron returns to the Department of Management, where he'll continue teaching entrepreneurship courses.

Each year, the Big 12 Conference recognizes one faculty member from each of the conference’s 16 institutions—this year honors one of our own here at BYU Marriott. Congratulations to Michael Drake on being named one of the 2026-27 Big 12 Conference Faculty of the Year! 👏

Mike is the associate dean of faculty and research at BYU Marriott and the K. Fred Skousen Distinguished Professor of Accounting. Per the Big 12, Mike is a “prolific scholar highly regarded by his peers, an award-winning instructor who captivates the minds of his students, and a generous colleague and leader in his administrative duties.”
