St. John’s School of Education Established in 1908, The School of Education (TSOE) at St. Today, the school has four departments:

The U.S. News and World Report Rankings for 2023 placed The School of Education in the 87th position of Best Graduate Programs (up from 103 to 87) for excellence and achievement. The School of Education has four major objectives, consistent with the mission and distinctive purposes of St. John's University: to foster a culture of academic excellence and commitment to moral values; to provide for the professional development of faculty and students; to support and encourage excellence in teaching and scholarly research; and to serve as a partner and resource to the larger educational community. Afford a vibrant learning experience that supports students' intellectual, professional, and moral development.
2. Provide programs that enable the school’s students to function effectively and professionally in today's dynamic, multicultural, multi-ethnic society.
3. Encourage students to develop a personal education philosophy consistent with the University's mission.
4. Foster basic and applied research in education and human services in an environment that encourages collaboration among students and faculty. In addition to providing a first-rate education to our students, TSOE is committed to serve as a resource center to the educational community at large by providing leadership and support services for local, state, and national associations, sponsoring professional meetings and seminars, and offering consultative services for schools and community agencies. Meet some of our Future Catholic School Teachers as they engaged in a virtual reality experience aired on CBS News on Friday, May 8. This partnership with the Education Startup company KreditVerse is to use Virtual Reality as a classroom. Virtual Reality is often used for gaming and entertainment. This is the next revolution in education!

Future Teachers took their next step at the Annual Hartigan Forum, held on Monday, April 27, in the D’Angelo Center and hosted by The School of Education. The event connected student teachers with alumni, principals, district leaders, and education professionals from Catholic, public, and independent schools throughout the region. The event welcomed more than 80 St. John’s University student teachers and provided them with the opportunity to ask questions, glean wisdom, and draw on the experience of representatives from 15 area schools and school districts.

The School of Education (TSOE) is proud to celebrate its rising stars: Ryan Boswell, a senior in the 5-year BSED/MSED program for Adolescent Education and TESOL, and Briana Cristello, a senior in the 5-year BSED/MSED program for Childhood Education and Children with Disabilities.

Both Ryan and Briana are set to graduate in May and are also members of TSOE Ambassadors program. Recently, they were honored as members of the President’s Society, the highest honor society at St. John’s University. Congratulations to Ryan and Briana!
