After 30 years of training professional drivers the JWCC Truck Driver Training program this week began the first ever dual credit program for high school seniors! Ten local high school seniors are taking part in the inagural class.

This program lets high school seniors get a head start learning the theory portion of the course so that when they turn 18 they can obtain their permit and begin their path towards a professional truck driving career.

Our last 12-week night class for the year starts Monday, July 15th but there is still time to get registered. Call the Workforce Development Center at 641-4971 and get signed up.

Most student who go through the night program still work a full-time job during the day and get their CDL while maintaining their current position. Class times are Monday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

"I have never shifted before."

This is something we here often from our new students and our response is always the same, "that's not a problem!" Students who attend the JWCC Truck Driver Training program first learn how to shift on our state-of-the-art driving simulator to understand the basics of shifting a manual transmission vehicle before heading out to the truck.
