Yesterday marked 25 years since the tragedy of 9/11. Our color guard team at Radford University ROTC went to support our local community by presenting the colors during the national anthem. We thank all of our first responders for everything that they do and for inviting us out to support during this memorable time.

This week was a busy week for our cadets! They started out with a Lab learning Individual Movement Techniques, hand and Arm signals, and EPW which is utilized throughout their ROTC and Army careers. They then had
the Battalion run with Virginia Tech and crushed it! Finally they finished off the week with an Army Fitness Test diagnostic. Stay working hard, Iron Sharpens Iron!

Here is a weekly recap from this past week.



Monday our Cadets started the week with an Introduction to leadership, Fall Semester overview of our training plan and awards recognition of our previous efforts in Spring Semester!

Tuesday there was the welcome brief from Colonel Surrey followed by some on the spot training at Virginia Tech.

Wednesday was the 2 mile diagnostic our fastest cadet ran the 2 mile in 12 minutes 16 seconds!

After the 2 mile diagnostic our cadets kept working with some hill sprints!

Finally on Friday we had a company run to prepare ourselves for the upcoming battalion run next Wednesday. Let’s stay motivated and keep working hard!

Last week our new cadets completed Zero Week! At zero week these new cadets learned the basics of Army ROTC at Radford University. Their day started with Physical Training, followed by classroom session with topics such as the Army customs and courtesies, rank structure and chain of command, Drill and ceremony (with hands on training photos 2-5), movement techniques, and finally wear and appearance of the uniform. The final day we had our Cadre from Virginia Tech join us for a lunch gathering so our new cadets could properly introduce themselves! Here’s to a great year! We at Radford University Army ROTC are so happy everyone could join us this year!

Delta Company said goodbye to two incredible seniors as they earned their gold bars and stepped into the next level of leadership. We also recognized the hard work and dedication across the company with awards for Spring 2026.
