Alternative Fall Break? More like TRAIL BLAZING, SAW SWINGING, APPALACHIAN ADVENTURE!

Our students and faculty just wrapped up the annual Restoring Appalachian trip, teaming up with the Appalachian Trail Conservancy and Southern Appalachian Wilderness Stewards (SAWS) to give back to the trails that make our region so special.

Based out of Konnarock Base Camp, our Highlanders got straight to work! Day one brought crosscut saws and trail maintenance on Mullins Branch Trail in Smyth County, VA. Day two? Drawknives out as students debarked locust posts to help maintain the Appalachian Trail.

Real work. Real impact. Real Highlander spirit.

THIS is how we do fall break! Way to show up and show out, HIGHLANDERS!
