🚴‍♂️⛺ Adventure is the best classroom!

On Friday, RCPT 229 Bikepacking class covered 27.5 miles of the beautiful New River Trail from Galax to Millrace Campground, carrying everything needed for an overnight adventure. Students gained hands-on experience in route planning, loaded bike travel, campcraft, and life on the trail.

With a tropical storm approaching and another 24 miles to Pulaski on the itinerary, students adapted their plans and wrapped up the trip early. They left with valuable firsthand experience and a better understanding of the rewards and challenges of bikepacking.

Adventure is about more than reaching a destination. It’s about learning, adapting, and discovering what you’re capable of along the way.

Fall weather + campfire + s'mores = A pretty great classroom

RCPT 317 Adventure Programming students recently spent a night camping at Selu Conservancy, where they practiced outdoor cooking, built community around the campfire, and learned the importance of Leave No Trace and fire safety by making sure every fire was completely out before leaving camp. Adventure starts here!

Five days. Countless challenges. One incredible accomplishment.

Students in our RCPT 320 Introduction to Aerial Adventure Environments course recently completed an intensive training designed to develop the technical, safety, leadership, and facilitation skills needed for challenge course programming.

Even better? Every participant passed the training and is now RU ABLE Level 1 Challenge Course Certified!

Congratulations to our newest cohort of challenge course facilitators!
