And just like that, a bone chilling, smore-grilling tradition was born! A huge thank you to everyone who came out and shared their spooky stories with us last night. It was the best way to celebrate the spookiest season, and we may be biased but Appalachia has the best story tellers around! 👻🎃

Couldn’t make it last night? Never fear! Stay tuned for our next event! 👀

Not sure how to find us tonight for the bonfire! No worries - we’ve got you covered!

Starting at 6 pm this evening, we will be set up by the river. The red area on the map shows you exactly where our bonfire will be. Just come to Dedmon Center and follow the path down past the baseball diamond. When in doubt- follow the bonfire flames. You can’t miss us!

We hope to see everyone tonight!

It’s spooky season here in Appalachia! And what better way to celebrate than telling ghost stories by the river?

Radford Appalachian Studies invites YOU to join us on Thursday, October 22nd, 2026 starting at 6 pm. Our bonfire will be located near the river behind the Dedmon Center. We will bring the snacks. You can bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and your spookiest ghost stories!

New to us…did you know Appalachia has a FLAG!? How cool is that? Created in 2023 with great embedded symbolism. Click here to read about it https://appalachianflag.wordpress.com/

This Appalachian Flag captures the spirit of the region—great for homes, offices, events, or as a gift for anyone connected to Appalachia.
