Welcome to our new professor of the practice, retired NASA astronaut and U.S. Air Force Col. Kevin Ford!

Ford will join the MAE faculty on Nov. 1, bringing with him years of experience with space exploration and flight, as well as many achievements in the field.

“My hope is to help bring the spirit of NASA and exploration into the hearts and minds of students and faculty, help bridge gaps between ideas and reality, and ensure that researchers university-wide can successfully imagine how their own disciplines might benefit from, or contribute to our journeys into the cosmos.”

In this new era of space exploration and technology, North Carolina State alumni are contributing to a range of space missions and programs. Three-time NC State alumna Christina Koch recently became the first woman to fly to and around the Moon on NASA’s Artemis II mission. 🌘

Several NC State College of Engineering alumni are supporting space exploration efforts at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. From spacesuit design to flight stability research, their work helps develop the technologies and systems that enable future exploration.
