Our SolarPack team recently went to the Formula Sun Grand Prix to race their solar-powered vehicle, Fenrir! 🏎️☀️

The two-seat vehicle used 4.5 square meters of solar panels in a 1.1 kW solar array, with a battery capacity of 13.608 kWh.

Fenrir cleared multiple technical inspections during Scrutineering, proving the team’s build quality. Unfortunately, aging brakes failed during the final parts of Dynamics testing, and the team was unable to race this time around.

“This upcoming year, we are hoping to source more funding to acquire quality parts that will keep us going throughout next year's Formula Sun Grand Prix,” incoming SolarPack Project Director Estyn Ge**er said.

Good luck to NC State's Solarpack team as they compete at the Formula Sun Grand Prix with their newest solar-electric car, Fenrir.

The team is traveling to Brainerd, MN from July 17-20 to compete at the Brainerd International Raceway.

From July 17 to July 20, they will go through “scrutineering,” which will be multiple days of inspections and dynamic tests to ensure all mechanical and electrical systems are safe and meet regulations.

From July 21 to July 23, they will be on the track for up to 8 hours each day completing as many laps as possible. The majority of the points are based on how many laps your team is able to complete in those 3 days, along with other minor points and awards for elements such as the practicality of your design and the single fastest lap.

NC State Solarpack is competing in the Multi-Occupant Vehicle (MOV) division, with 2 seats and 49 ft^2 of solar panels.

Last competition season, NC State Baja had two 8th place finishes, and we have high hopes for the team's return!

Congratulations to NC State’s Aerial Robotics Club!

ARC went to the California Unmanned Aerial Systems Competitions (C-UASC) this June, in which they achieved 2nd place in the Design competition 🏅

Kavik is a fixed-wing, fully electric aircraft with versatile mission capability. Though the wind caused a crash during Kavik's flight, the experience has given the ARC team a better vision of how to approach competition in the future.
