- Engage NCSU students in new opportunities for sustainable agriculture education, research, and farm management.
- Provide hands-on experiences in Agroecology, sustainable/organic agriculture concepts and

practices for a diversity of audiences including students, community members, and K-12 school groups.
- Provide a site for people of diverse educational, cultural, and professional backgrounds to connect around local food systems, sustainable, and historic NC agriculture. Partners and Supporters:

Center for Environmental Farming Systems:
The mission of CEFS is to develop and promote food and farming systems that protect the environment, strengthen local communities, and provide economic opportunities in North Carolina and beyond.CEFS is dedicated to sustainable agriculture research, extension and education. CEFS' goals are to provide new economic opportunities in rural and urban communities, develop technologies that promote a cleaner and healthier environment, educate the next generation of farmers, consumers, and scientists, and engage all citizens in the food system. Historic Yates Mill County Park:
The Historic Yates Mill County Park, located in Raleigh, NC is home to the only remaining gristmill in Wake County, the Historic Yates Mill. The park sits on 174 acres which includes a 20 acre pond that is nourished by the Steep Hill Creek. Visitors take pleasure in fishing from the pond’s boardwalk, and enjoying the beautiful landscape and scenery. The park offers several miles of hiking trails and includes both a hiking guide and a tree identification guide. Several popular trails include the Tree Identification Trail, the Millpond Trail, the High Ridge Trail and the Creekside Trail, each from .44 miles long to 1 mile long. The Historic Yates Mill County Park is proud to be a field research facility for NC State University’s College of Agriculture and Life Science. Included in this are the university’s Biological Field Laboratories and the Finley Center’s Research Wing, which is used exclusively for university zoological studies. Lastly, the park is located directly next to the farm with access to the farm from the park and vice-versa.
