A brief history of Lambda Chi Alpha at North Carolina State University…

Lambda Chi Alpha’s roots at North Carolina State University trace back to a secret society known as Pi Alpha. Installed in 1920, Pi Alpha became a local fraternity after they gained enough members to become an official local fraternity in 1922. Pi Alpha filed to become a chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha in 1924 and became the Gamm

a Upsilon chapter. Gamma Upsilon was a fully functioning chapter at North Carolina State University from 1924-2005, initiating 1,187 men including prominent North Carolina State Alumni, James Owens (former CEO of Caterpillar, Inc.) and John Tesh (famous actor/entertainer). Lambda Chi Alpha has returned to campus and are continuing that legacy of excellence.
