A new economic impact report finds that William Peace University, Shaw University, and Meredith College generate more than $1.1B in regional sales and support nearly $200M in earnings.

The collaborative study finds these institutions serve as vital employers, support household incomes, attract and retain talent, and contribute significantly to the region’s civic and cultural vitality. Through a partnership with Economic Leadership and funded by the A.J. Fletcher Foundation, it quantifies how these Raleigh institutions strengthen the Triangle as employers, talent pipelines, and cultural anchors.

Envisioned by former President of Peace Dr. Lynn Morton and spearheaded by Peace's Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Academic Projects through Director Megan-Joy Woodall, the report shows that in 2025 the three schools supported about 3,200 resident jobs. It also found the institutions generated an estimated $538M in regional GDP. As President Jennifer Walsh noted, that contribution “cannot be measured in dollars alone," observing Peace's impact extends far beyond economics to include educational access, community engagement, and a sense of place and continuity in Raleigh.
