With help from NC State Dining, the student-led Food Recovery Network alleviates food insecurity by rescuing leftovers that otherwise would go to waste. 👏

The student-led network gathers at Fountain and University Towers dining halls once a week to rescue leftovers and package them into ready-to-eat meals for Feed the Pack Food Pantry and Wake County’s South Wilmington Street Shelter.

Brand management and marketing students at the NC State Wilson College of Textiles got the ultimate real world experience by crafting campaigns in collaboration with the Carolina Hurricanes team.

In FTM 387: Textile Brand Communications and Promotions, Delisia Matthews teaches advertising from a textiles perspective. Her main method: connecting students with real industry partners and tasking them with crafting ready-to-implement marketing plans.

“I don’t know how many professional sports teams exist in the same city as a premier public textiles university, but we obviously do, and that’s a fantastic resource,” says Natalie Gore, the Senior Marketing Coordinator for the Carolina Hurricanes.

Since 2009, Warwick Arden oversaw the hiring of 1,600 faculty and dozens of college deans, department heads and directors.

Arden, NC State's longest-serving provost, stepped down at the end of the 2025-26 academic year to return to the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine & Veterinary Hospital faculty. Under his academic leadership, student success metrics such as 4- and 6-year graduation rates soared.

Elliott Avent won more games than any coach in any sport in Wolfpack athletics history. After 30 years at the helm of NC State Baseball, Avent retires on June 30 knowing he's leaving the program in good hands.

Chris Hart, Avent’s faithful assistant for the last 22 years, was named his successor just days after the head coach announced his retirement.

“Chris being here is really special to me, so I don’t really feel like I have left,” Avent says. “But it’s his program now, and I’ll be pulling as hard, or harder, for his teams to win as when I was head coach."

Michael Biesecker '96, a global investigative reporter for the Associated Press, was recently awarded the Pulitzer Prize. 👏

“It’s good to have work recognized,” Biesecker said of the award, “but it’s better to do work worthy of recognition.”
